The Opportunity

As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking a Data Science Analyst Intern who will support the Global Data & Analytics, IT organization. This is a remote position (ideally seeking East Coast based candidates) who will be part of the 2023 Summer Internship Program.

The Responsibilities

• Interact with various teams to understand IT and business processes, and analyze and evaluate detailed business and technical requirements.
• Assist in documenting the company's Data Science use cases.
• Assist in the design of the Data Science Platform to include the implementation of best practices via POC projects.
• Assist in building and testing Machine Learning POCs using Databricks and writing code in SQL, Python, Scala, & R.
• Assist in the design and development of a greenfield next-gen Data Science platform using Azure Databricks.
• Assist in development using Databricks, Python, and SQL.

The Job Deliverables

• The intern will present to a cross-functional team.

The Individual

Required:

• Graduate or Undergraduate in the Fields of Study of Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
• Minimum Year in school: Senior or Graduate Student
• Minimum GPA: 3.0
• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Strong interest in technology, data mining, computer science, statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to learn complex concepts quickly & implement them against real-world use cases.
• Ability to develop relationships with the team and across different functions and cultures.
• Be a self-starter with a proven background in being self-sufficient in completing their objectives with minimal input from external sources.
• Experience analyzing complex data sets, extrapolating meaning from those datasets, and communicating back to non-technical people the insights obtained.
• Student must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Must have fast and stable internet.
• Interns should be prepared to fully commit to the start and end dates proposed
• Interns are expected to provide their housing, travel, and any other requirements necessary for their participation in this program

Preferred:

• Data Science background with practical experience with analyzing data at different levels of quality using languages like SQL, Python, R, & Scala.
• Understanding of practical implementation of Machine Learning models to aid in real-world business problems.

The pay range for the Internship Program is between $16/hr to $30/hr, The pay rate will be determined by the year in school, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate. Benefits are not included for this position.
