Data Science Intern

We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic University graduate, or professional in a related field looking to make the switch to Data Science.

Our intern program will challenge you to learn practical data science skills in a real engineering team. You will be given increasingly complex tasks to complete in our existing data infrastructure with assistance from Data Scientists and Engineers at Bugcrowd. You will learn how data science is used in a real-world setting, ways of using data science in an automated production environment and effectively executing one-off requests for data analysis and exploration.

Some things you will do:

• Run A/B tests
• Exploratory Data Analysis
• “Kaggle”: try to beat the accuracy of some of our current models
• You’re encouraged to come up with novel ideas and voice opinions - we are always looking for different perspectives
• Participate in meetings with the Product team to discuss product requirements, expectations and success metrics

We are looking for somebody with:

• Good academic knowledge  of and/or real-world experience with a broad range of data science and machine learning technologies
• Proficiency in Python and the most-used data science libraries (e..g, SciPy, Numpy, Pandas, etc.)
• Experience with one or more data paradigms (e.g., relational, graph) and query methods (e.g., SQL, SPARQL, cypher) and/or data processing platforms (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, SageMaker, etc.) is preferred
• Some experience with git and github is preferred (Do you prefer to merge or rebase? Why?)
• Self-starting, can-do attitude, and a willingness to consult the docs (or read the source!) when you don’t know the answer

Compensation

The base pay range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to Qualifications, Geographical Location, Education/certifications, Experience, Skill Sets, Training, and other business and organizational needs. 

At Bugcrowd, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for interns is: $15 - $25 an hour USD.
