Data Visualization Intern (Remote)
This internship is part of the Rising TIDE program. Elsevier created its Rising TIDE (Tomorrow, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity) internship program to foster inclusion and diversity, provide individuals with work experience in Corporate, and develop a pipeline of talent for entry level positions.
This is a remote or home-based role that can be open to various locations.

Our group supports our Health products with a knowledge graph that creates a structured representation of the medical knowledge.
About the Role
As Data Visualization Intern, you will support innovation projects by creating lightweight prototypes, demos, and data visualizations to show the usefulness of the project and communicate value to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Working at the intersection of data science and software engineering, helping bring our knowledge graph to life.
- Having basic engineering skills in or interest in learning at the level of prototyping and experimentation. Preferably with an interest in front-end engineering
- Having experience in or interest in learning about graphs and the algorithms and models that leverage them.
- Using data to solve real life healthcare problems that impact patients' care and outcomes.
Requirements
- Have exposure to knowledge graph and how to visualize and query it.
- Use computing languages (Python, R, JavaScript, React, Tableau) to manipulate and visualize data.
- Build Creating lightweight prototypes and visualizations in collaboration with data scientists and research scientists.
- Have knowledge of basic engineering principles to help deploy the prototypes.
