We are seeking a Database Engineer to help us define and realize our vision for trustworthy data across the company. 

What is Database Engineering at VillageMD? 

The Database Engineering team’s mission is to provide a world-class Database experience to developers that is reliable, scalable, compliant and easy to use in a cost efficient way.  The Database engineering team designs, builds database solutions that power every area of the business, including Postgres, MSSQL, and Snowflake. 

At the same time, the technology used to create great data is continually evolving. We need database engineers who are passionate not only about the data, but also about improving the technology we leverage for delivering data. 

Required Qualifications: 

• 7+ years of experience developing large scale, high-performance data processing systems  
• 3+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc)
• 5+ years of experience working with Snowflake, Postgres and or RDS 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Relevant industry experience in a fast paced, high growth environment 
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets, identify performance gaps and inconsistencies 
• The ability to decompose large-scale distributed systems and figure out failure scenarios and debug them in an efficient manner 

• Deep knowledge of relational databases and query authoring (SQL) 
• Experience designing highly available data systems & backup/DR strategies based on industry standards
• The knack for writing clean, readable, testable maintainable code 
• Understand and influence data management methodologies such as data engineering, data security, advanced analytics, metadata management and data quality. 
• A low ego and humility; an ability to gain trust by delivering value

For Colorado Residents only: The base compensation range for this role is $80,000 to $110,000. At VillageMD, compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. This role may be eligible for annual/quarterly bonus incentives (if applicable), and the selected candidate will be eligible for a valuable company benefits plan, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401k plan with company match.
