General Summary of Position In support of the responsibilities of the Assistant Vice President of Quality, and with guidance from the Sr.Director, Clinical Data & Analytics and supervisor, develops SQL and other data analysis routines for clinical quality, and clinical performance measurement and monitoring. Imports and maintains data from a variety of sources, including but not limited to electronic health records, claims and billing data, pay for performance data (from both internal and external sources), to support data-driven, clinician-led continuous improvement across MedStar Health. Designs, codes, tests and maintains databases demonstrating advanced technical skills with Microsoft SQL Server database and other relational databases

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with technical and non-technical MedStar associates to understand and meet their needs, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develops ad-hoc and standard reports using SQL and a using a variety of commercial tools and/or programming languages (such as SSRS report builder, Tableau, and others).
  • Performs complex data transfers, interfaces, and conversions. Automates data load and reporting tasks, designs new table structures, develops SSIS packages and manages them in a production environment, and tunes data load routines and other database objects to enhance performance. Troubleshoots and corrects issues.
  • With guidance from a supervisor, designs, develops, documents, tests, analyzes, modifies, and maintains database systems and programs; examples: design and program stored procedures to maintain different reporting tables and interfaces to and from external systems.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education
    • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field required

    r

    Experience
    • 5-7 years Experience in SQL database and reports development, and experience with database and systems development life cycle management. required and
    • Experience in healthcare field and knowledge of the healthcare industry highly. Experience working with data from electronic healthcare records highly. Database configuration management and/or implementing capability maturity model preferred

    Licenses and Certifications
    • No special certification, registration or licensure required

    r

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Strong SQL development skills; demonstrated competence developing complex Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, and other database objects, as well as developing SSIS packages.
    • Experience with large databases/data warehouses required, and developing reports in Tableau preferred.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
