The Opportunity
This DevOps Engineer II position works out of our Sylmar, CA location in the CRM Cardiac Rhythm Management division.
We are seeking a high caliber DevOps Engineer. Working under general supervision, performs a variety of development and production operation activities including, but not limited to, supporting and troubleshooting production applications, planning and coordinating software deployment, developing and maintaining software tools. You will be working on various Cloud services involving PAAS and IAAS services. You will also contribute to our existing operations hosted onsite which includes managing several java applications, support middleware technologies, continuous automation, adapt Site reliability engineering (SRE) principles to operations problems and participate in quality, compliance, security initiatives.
About the team: The DevOps Engineering team provides a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where engineers work closely to provide remote care software services to patients and physicians. You will collaborate with other engineers in Architecture, Development, Product, IT, Systems engineering teams to continue finding new areas that can be improved by bringing a DevOps/SRE mindset to product offerings. What You'll Work On
- Deploy CI/CD pipelines and demonstrate scripting skills through Ruby, Python, Shell or other scripting languages.
- Support releases and deployment of code from Development, Test, Stage and Production environments.
- Ensure code quality, test and distribute code updates and monitor the health and stability of the servers.
- Design and implement software using core Java (J2SE).
- Assist in the preparation of software design requirements and detailed design specifications for implementation of software designs per Abbott design development process.
- Assist in the evaluation of selected designs through testing and full documentation of the results.
- Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Ability and willingness to learn new things quickly, good verbal and written communications skills as well as teamwork skills are highly desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in a range of software engineering disciplines using a variety of programming methods.
- Good understanding of software programming, software development, software releases, database management, networking concepts, cybersecurity, and cloud computing.
- A good understanding of modern, cloud centric architectures and microservices.
- Understanding of the Linux operating system, standard networking protocols, and components
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
Preferred
- Experience with tools such as Jenkins, Chef, Ansible or Puppet.
- Experience working on Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure DevOps and Bitbucket/Git.
