DevOps Engineer (Insights)

We are building the Insights Platform to support our customer's observability needs.
On DigitalOcean's Insights Team, you will build and operate cloud-scale distributed time-series databases powering all customer insights. We ingest and store 45 billion metrics every day for our customers. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for automating the operations while extending the platform to meet our customers' needs and internal product teams.
What You'll Be Doing:

• Operating and automating our infrastructure and system software to measurably increase team velocity
• Developing a mastery of configuration management, CI/CD, and observability tooling
• Working with other platform and infrastructure teams to ensure our systems are reliable, resilient, and secure
• Working with exciting technologies such as Kubernetes, Prometheus/Thanos, Go, Java, Docker, Kafka, ScyllaDB, Kafka Streams and more.

What You'll Add to DigitalOcean:

• System administration experiences leveraging Linux and Open Source web technologies
• Familiarity with configuration management systems such as Chef, Ansible, etc.
• Leveraging Infrastructure as Code tooling alongside CI/CD systems
• Experience with observability and instrumenting systems for performance and debugging purposes
• A desire to grow your software engineering skills on a high traffic system
• An appreciation of SRE principles, along with utilizing data and automation to improve systems.
• Excellent communication skills. We work intimately with product teams to ensure our customers have the observability they need to be successful on our platform.
