Director, Accounting and Finance

Duties

1. Oversee the general accounting function, which includes inter-organization accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, accounts payable and cash receipts processing
2. Supervise assigned staff members and ensure appropriate training and development is achieved on an ongoing basis
3. Oversee management of the organization’s corporate credit card administration and transactions including credit limit management and compliance with related policies
4. Accountable for ensuring that appropriate policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place and followed to provide reasonable assurance that the assets of Joni and Friends are protected.  Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly/annual account reconciliations to ensure compliance
5. Provide technical accounting GAAP guidance, support, and compliance for nonprofit accounting standards and ensure that company financial records, under responsibility, are maintained in compliance with Joni and Friends policies and GAAP
6. Ensure compliance with all municipalities including property tax, sales tax and other responsibilities for which the department is assigned
7. Oversee weekly cash flow by monitoring bank account balances, ensuring payroll coverage and projecting payable check runs. Ensure vendor and other payments are made on a timely basis
8. Coordinate work relating to both internal and external audits. Responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations, resulting from the audit findings. These findings will be presented to the Audit Committee of Joni and Friends
9. Lead yearly budgeting process
10. Coordinate the completion of the Form 990 tax returns with tax CPAs
11. Other duties and projects as assigned by the Supervisor to support department and organizational needs

Qualifications

• Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
• Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required; active CPA required
• Experience in SAGE Intact highly preferred
• Five to ten years’ experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller with supervisory responsibilities
• Excellent communication skills, solid knowledge of GAAP, strong MS Excel skills and proficiency in Powerpoint and Word
• Non-profit/fund accounting experience a strong plus
• Must be a team player who is self-motivated and experienced in supporting, implementing, and executing organizational objectives
• Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable

CA Compensation is $119,500 - $134,500 (exempt) (hybrid schedule of M/Tu/Th in the office and W/F remote)
