Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. Our extensive portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, bare metal stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices and peripheral stents.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Abbott Vascular in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a Director of Business Human Resources to serve as the primary strategic partner to the business, developing HR strategies, needs assessments and the resulting HR solutions. This role will support the Abbott Vascular Commercial organizations for the US and Canada/Latin America (CALA) regions, which accounts for approximately $1B in revenue for the Vascular organization. This role will partner directly with the Divisional Vice Presidents for our US Coronary and Endovascular businesses, and the General Manager for CALA, and will sit as part of those respective leadership teams.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

  • Serves as the strategic HR partner to the Business. Leverages HR consulting skills to help their business clients achieve key business objectives and increase the effectiveness of their organization.
  • Balances short term needs / tactics with long term strategies; calibrates needs of the US/CALA Commercial organizations with the broader global business.
  • Aligns human resources initiatives and resources to deliver against business strategies and operational plans.
  • In partnership with the divisional vice president and leadership team, develops and implements a talent plan that ensures the organization has the right talent to deliver on financial commitments, consistent team performance and a sustainable talent bench.
  • Brings thought leadership and experience to change management initiatives in the business.
  • Responsible for the quality and responsiveness of the overall delivery of all HR services for the respective client group.
  • Establishes, builds and maintains strong relationships with key HR partners from Area BHR, Practice Areas and Service Centers to ensure elements of HR are successfully coordinated to meet and exceed business needs.

Required

  • 10 years of experience leading HR initiatives and programs
  • 5 years of experience with talent management, employee relations and compensation/benefits programs
  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred

Preferred

  • Experience supporting medical devices/diagnostics organizations preferred
  • Experience working in a matrix HR environment
  • Experience with organization culture change initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate with management to achieve both HR and business objectives
  • Understanding of key business and financial drivers and demonstrated strong delivery of HR results
  • Role to be based in Santa Clara
