This leadership role sits at the intersection of clinical strategy, early development execution, and high-impact team management within oncology research. The position is responsible for guiding experienced Clinical Trial Execution Experts and Clinical Trial Leaders through the planning and delivery of early-phase oncology studies through Proof of Concept. You will play a key role in shaping operational excellence, ensuring that clinical trials are executed with scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and strong patient-centric focus. Operating within a global and highly collaborative environment, you will partner with cross-functional teams across clinical operations, development, and enabling functions. This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, hands-on clinical expertise, and people leadership. It offers the opportunity to influence early clinical development strategy while building and mentoring a high-performing team driving innovation in oncology.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead and develop a team responsible for early clinical trial execution while ensuring operational excellence across oncology programs through Proof of Concept. You will provide strategic direction, oversee trial delivery, and ensure alignment with scientific and development objectives.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Clinical Trial Execution Experts and Clinical Trial Leaders, fostering a high-performance and growth-oriented culture
  • Define and guide clinical execution strategies, integrating scientific, operational, and competitive insights into trial planning and delivery
  • Oversee end-to-end clinical trial operations including planning, execution, reporting, and risk management for early-phase oncology studies
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, legal, ethical, and quality standards including GCP compliance and inspection readiness
  • Manage resources, budgeting, and capacity planning to support efficient and timely trial delivery
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across clinical operations, study management, and enabling functions to ensure aligned execution
  • Lead process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and innovation
  • Serve as a key liaison between strategy and execution teams, ensuring seamless communication and alignment across stakeholders
  • Requirements

    This position requires deep expertise in early-phase clinical development and oncology, combined with strong leadership experience in global clinical operations. The ideal candidate brings both strategic vision and hands-on operational capability in complex clinical trial environments.

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP, or equivalent) strongly preferred
    • 12+ years of experience in clinical research, including significant pharmaceutical industry experience
    • Extensive background in early clinical development (Phase I, First-in-Human, Proof of Concept) with a proven track record of delivering complex trials
    • Deep therapeutic expertise in oncology, including regulatory expectations, scientific trends, and competitive landscape understanding
    • Strong leadership experience managing high-performing clinical teams and developing talent in global environments
    • Proven experience in clinical operations including study design, CRO/vendor oversight, site management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance
    • Strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex scientific and operational challenges into clear execution plans
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills across cross-functional and multicultural teams
