This executive role sits at the intersection of science, storytelling, and global impact, responsible for shaping how breakthrough innovation is communicated to the world.
You will lead a high-visibility communications function that drives earned media, executive messaging, and donor-facing narratives across global audiences.
The role is central to amplifying large-scale initiatives that aim to solve humanity’s most complex challenges through incentive-driven innovation.
You will work closely with senior leadership to ensure a unified, compelling external voice across media, fundraising, and organizational storytelling.
This position requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution, with the ability to build communications infrastructure from the ground up.
It is an opportunity to influence global conversations while translating complex scientific and technological breakthroughs into accessible, urgent narratives.

Accountabilities:

  • Define and lead global earned media strategy, building strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets across science, technology, business, and philanthropy.
  • Shape and maintain a consistent external narrative that keeps the organization visible between major milestones and announcements.
  • Oversee communications across the full lifecycle of major initiatives, including launches, announcements, and impact storytelling campaigns.
  • Translate complex scientific and technical concepts into clear, compelling messaging for both expert and non-expert audiences, including donors and partners.
  • Partner closely with advancement and fundraising teams to develop donor-facing communications, campaign narratives, and impact materials.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on executive communications, including speeches, thought leadership, and media engagements.
  • Lead crisis communications planning and reputation management in coordination with senior leadership and legal stakeholders.
  • Build and scale the communications function, including agency management, internal systems, and operational frameworks.
  • Ensure alignment between owned content and earned media strategies to maximize visibility and engagement.

  • Requirements:

    • 12+ years of senior communications experience, including leadership of earned media, executive messaging, and strategic narrative development.
    • Proven ability to translate complex scientific, technical, or policy topics into compelling, multi-audience storytelling.
    • Strong network of relationships with top-tier media outlets covering science, technology, business, or philanthropy.
    • Experience building communications functions, systems, or agency partnerships from the ground up.
    • Demonstrated success developing donor-facing or philanthropic communications for high-level stakeholders or investors.
    • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and executive communication skills, with experience supporting senior leadership.
    • Background in journalism, science communication, technology, climate, or innovation-focused organizations is highly valued.
    • Ability to operate in fast-paced, mission-driven environments requiring both strategic leadership and hands-on execution.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit, philanthropic, or incentive-based innovation models is a strong advantage.

    • Benefits:

      • Competitive base salary range: $190,000 – $210,000, with potential annual performance-based incentives.
      • Remote-first work model within the United States.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage for employees and dependents.
      • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
      • Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, holidays, and floating days.
      • Paid parental leave for employees welcoming a new child.
      • Wellness, internet, cell phone, and learning & development stipends.
      • Structured focus time, including meeting-free blocks and dedicated deep-work weeks.
      • Quarterly in-person all-hands meetings for collaboration and alignment.
      • Employee Assistance Program offering confidential personal and professional support.
