Director of Developer Advocate, Application Security

The role sits within a leading application security organization Checkmarx focused on securing modern, AI-driven software development at global scale.
You will define how developers and security engineers engage with Agentic Application Security in an era shaped by AI-generated code.
This position blends deep technical credibility with developer advocacy, community leadership, and strategic go-to-market influence.
You will act as a key voice between engineering, product, and the global developer ecosystem.
The role involves shaping narratives around secure development lifecycles in AI-native environments and driving adoption across multiple channels.
You will build trust, influence technical communities, and help define best practices for securing the next generation of software.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone passionate about developer experience, security innovation, and ecosystem building.

• Build and scale a global developer community focused on Agentic Application Security and modern AppSec practices
• Serve as a key technical evangelist, representing developer needs and feedback internally to influence product direction and strategy
• Create and deliver high-impact technical content including blogs, architectural guides, tutorials, webinars, demos, and live sessions
• Engage actively with developers across GitHub, Discord, Slack, conferences, meetups, podcasts, and industry events
• Define and promote best practices for securing AI-generated, AI-assisted, and agent-driven code across the development lifecycle
• Partner with Sales, Product Marketing, and Customer Success to support go-to-market initiatives and strategic accounts
• Enable field teams with technical narratives, demo assets, and developer-focused storytelling materials

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software development, DevSecOps, Application Security, or platform engineering
• Strong understanding of modern software development workflows, CI/CD, and AI coding assistants
• Proven experience engaging technical audiences through public speaking, writing, or developer advocacy
• Demonstrated ability to build, grow, and nurture technical communities or ecosystems
• Strong technical communication skills, including writing, presenting, and live product demonstrations
• Experience working across Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams in cross-functional environments
• Solid knowledge of Application Security, DevOps practices, or AI/LLM technologies (preferred background)
• Prior experience in enterprise SaaS or developer-focused platforms (preferred)
• Previous experience as a developer advocate, technical evangelist, or similar role (strong plus)
