Director of Product Management

Upwork is looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Product to create and lead product capabilities for our products. We believe that a great customer experience starts with platform capabilities. And hence this product lead will influence the full stack from platform to user experience!
Developing products to support multiple geographies carries with it many challenges. You will have previously developed global product strategies that promote and improve business growth and go-to-market efficiency. We are looking for someone who can collaborate with multiple products and leaders. You will also lead a team of product managers to identify and build product platform capabilities and experiences.
Your Responsibilities:

• Define product strategy and roadmap, working with functional partners and engineering leaders. Set the product prioritization with a balance of near-term results and longer-term investment in product experiences and technology platforms
• Manage product commitments and business results. Communicate strategies and trade-offs up to senior leaders and down to the development team
• Be the promoter for an excellent product experience to drive faster client and talent matching and better collaboration between customers on projects leading to higher customer satisfaction and retention.
• Translate marketplace requirements into platform capabilities that encompass primary product platforms and associated customer experiences.
• Summarize market changes and technology improvements into concrete improvements for the platform

What it takes to catch our eye:

• Substantial product management experience with experience in marketplace collaboration products, platforms, and order management
• People management experience
• Conversant with modern day technologies and user experience principles required to bring product solutions to market, at scale and globally
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively influence a wide range of collaborators all across the organization
• Balances technical and commercial know-how; communicate what is possible and what will have the most significant impact on the business.
