The Opportunity

Our location in Alameda, California, currently has an opportunity for a Director of Product Management, Consumer. This critical role leads the Diabetes Care Division's Consumer Product Management team in identifying, evaluating, defining and advancing new products and programs for patients and caregivers from conception through engineering specification and execution. This position provides strategic input into the development and execution of strategic plans to enhance the Division's products, digital apps and services.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Deeply understand patient and caregiver needs and journeys based on customer insights and UX research to design and build products to fulfill those needs
  • Work cross functionally with Design, R&D, Regulatory, and Quality to build consumer products in an agile fashion
  • Grow and evolve current consumer products and maintain product roadmap
  • Lead the strategy in long range planning for pipeline products
  • Keep Senior Staff aware of developments and maintain buy-in throughout product development process while ensuring that coordination and communication occurs at all stages
  • Recommend actions to Senior Staff on strategic opportunities to maximize the product portfolio
  • Investigate, recommend, and implement new consumer product introductions into the business portfolio
  • Communicate progress, opportunities and risks associated with the implementation of product launch plans to Senior Staff.
  • Participate in product development reviews and design control activities.
  • Work closely with R&D, Global Marketing, and Global insights to coordinate commercialization plan with product development plan

Critical Success Indicators:
  • Successfully built multiple technology products from concept to launch using agile processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in growing an existing consumer technology product with significant user base.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required:
  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering or basic science discipline
  • 10+ years relevant business experience
  • Successful track record of building consumer technology products
  • Proven experience leading, recruiting, and motivating best-in-class product teams
  • Experience leading and/or working closely with UX design, UX research, and development teams utilizing agile processes
  • High capacity to work collaboratively across multiple functional areas at varying levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and deliver under aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment
  • Thrives under ambiguous conditions and is highly self-directed
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have a sound understanding of the markets and should have analytical and extrapolative thinking and influencing skills

Preferred:
  • MBA or Advanced degree
  • Experience building digital health products and/or wearables/connected devices
  • Experience building products and/or marketing in a highly regulated industry
