Reporting to and partnering with the CMO, the Director of Strategy will play a key role in (1) setting strategy for the marketing team, (2) prioritizing initiatives, (3) managing the budget, and (4) interacting closely with the finance and strategy teams to drive quarterly and annual planning. Additionally, this person will drive special projects that need additional strategic and analytical leadership. In short, we are looking for a true force multiplier to uplevel the strategy and operations of the marketing team.
The Chief of Staff will also have a high tolerance for ambiguity, with an ability to operate in a world where there isn’t complete clarity and where the environment is fluid, both internally and externally.
This is a perfect opportunity for a management consultant or someone in an internal strategy team to make the move to an operating role and have a front-row seat to the marketing leadership team at a high-growth company. Â
What you will be doing:
- Lead and organize content creation for key documents including board decks, monthly business reviews, quarterly business reviews
- Partner with CMO to lead quarterly and annual planning processes
- Drive and own adoption and execution of the organization’s OKRs across the marketing team, including OKR review process and alignment to key company-wide initiatives.
- Manage marketing budget - partner with CMO and VP of Growth to ensure efficient allocation of budget to maximize revenue
- Establish and manage new “marketing council” where we would review progress on key initiatives with executive team and other key leaders at the company
- Analyze large amounts of information and data quickly and effectively to reduce complexity and make actionable recommendations
- Steer large, cross-functional projects and build consensus with senior leadership across the organization.
- You will stay close to the key operating metrics of the business to identify and raise key focus areas for the business.
- Periodically lead one-off projects on key strategic topics that require an infusion of strategic and analytical horsepower
- In collaboration with the CMO, you will identify high impact projects and/or processes that need to be created or improved. You will develop project plans, get buy-in from stakeholders, and execute on those plans.
What you should have:
- 4+ years of experience, including 1+ years of experience in management consulting
- Demonstrated excellence guiding high-performing executives / teams of executives in working together to achieve company and/or business unit goals
- Unwavering focus on results
- Advanced influencing skills as well as ability to communicate directly to drive accountability where required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; previous experience with board & executive communications a plus
- Comfort with data analysis (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)Â
- Project management fluency
- Significant entrepreneurial drive, ability to create order from chaos, and willingness to roll up sleeves to directly solve challenging problems where required
- Systems thinking and the ability to imagine and drive the creation of new structures or processes required for business success
- Agility to multitask and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment in the face of many competing priorities
- Trustworthiness to handle confidential information with a high degree of integrity
