About the team & opportunity
Ontra is seeking a Director of PR & Communications reporting to our Chief Marketing Officer.
As our Director of PR & Communications, you will develop and hone our narrative while connecting our story to the larger cultural trends which shape global industry. As the primary media contact for the company, you will have the opportunity to establish Ontra as the premier brand in contract automation and intelligence for asset managers via public relations and leading industry influencers.
This role will be an individual contributor at the start, with the opportunity to build and grow a team as the company expands.

What you'll do

• Strategy: Build and execute our strategic communication strategy, including message development, pitch and announcement strategies. Provide ongoing strategic recommendations to executive management and functional leaders to sustain Ontra's narrative.
• Public Relations: Manage the relationship with our global PR agency, as well as all media contacts.
• Risk Mitigation: Identify and address potential PR issues before they become external liabilities. Provide strategic counsel to the CEO and executive leadership team regarding reputational threats and opportunities. Proactively develop communication strategies and crisis management plans; establish a process to rapidly take action as needed.
• Internal Communications: Ensure timely and effective communication of internal news to global employees.
• Metrics: Set quantitative and qualitative metrics and results to evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies and ensure quality standards. Proactively seek, compile, and report on feedback from recipients, both internal and external. Be able to present results against deliverables.

What you'll bring

• Experience: 10+ years of excellent writing, editing, and copy-editing experience in corporate communications, PR, or journalism fields and a proven track record across a variety of audience groups and channels. You have a broad understanding of brand marketing principles, strategy and techniques.
• Superb Communication: Comfortable with using a variety of media formats persuasively. Proven ability to provide candid, persuasive counsel to senior executives.
• Proactive: You act without being told what to do, and frequently bring new ideas to the company.
• Problem Solving: Understands the big picture and real impact of issues. Identifies creative solutions to problems
• Organized: You are able to manage highly interdependent, complex projects and keep various work streams on track
• Attention to detail: Does not let important details slip through the cracks or derail projects.

Ontra publishes salary ranges on our salary board here: https://bit.ly/3UjAOE3, which currently includes estimated annual cash salary ranges for candidates based in Colorado and New York City, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ontra leverages current market data to determine compensation, so posted figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
Ontra factors in your location when benchmarking compensation for most roles. If you are not located in Colorado or New York City and have been selected to participate in our interview process, we encourage you to speak with your recruiter about compensation for the role during an initial conversation.
In addition to cash salary, the total compensation package Ontra offers includes unit-based compensation (if applicable). Certain roles in our sales and account management departments may also be eligible to receive variable compensation or commission.
