About the position:

This role is accountable for building and leading a high-functioning data engineering organization that:

• Builds a Data Platform for scalable data streaming, batch and event driven microservices architecture
• Ingests and processes datasets across a vast array of applications and microservices
• Develops comprehensive metadata to power data governance, provenance, and data quality

The Director of Data Engineering is a credible deep technical leader who is expected to provide a strong voice for development standards and modern architecture. Partnership with peers in product and other development leaders will be fundamental to the role.

What you can expect to do:

• Take ownership and accountability of the deliverables, plans and budgets.
• Set and Maintain High standards of Technology; frameworks, code, quality and the security.
• Recruit, lead, inspire, and retain a high-functioning organization of data engineers
• Partner with GP Platform teams to ensure robust automation, operability, and support are core to all data engineering deliverables
• Partner with the Product and Program teams to design and operate a world-class data delivery and roadmap that serves the different GP product offerings
• Be the main Go To leader for all things Data in IDC
• Represent GP in technical blog posts and that aid awareness of the GP mission and recruiting

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree in information systems, computer science.
• 12 - 15 years related experience in a software development and 10 years of experience in people management
• 10 - 12 years of experience leading the designing, engineering, and operations of a  Data Platform
• PowerBI and other Data Visualization solutions
• Lambda and Kappa data processing architectures
• Batch and incremental/real-time based data processing methodologies
• Kafka event streaming based architectures and implementations
• AWS, Data factory, managed instances
• Excellent analytical skills; Identifies and resolves complex problems
• Solid understanding of managing milestones, roadmap forecasting, deliverables and resource scheduling for multiple, highly visible, long term and complex projects
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills
• Delegation skills – includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement
