In this role, the Director, Strategic Initiatives will drive execution in improvement and support of operational planning, reporting, and performance measurement. In this role, we are looking for a service-minded and detail-oriented individual who will serve as a critical resource in supporting, managing, and driving strategic projects and initiatives with senior management in executing business strategies.

Reporting directly to our SVP Operational Excellence, this person will build strong cross-functional relationships with internal departments to implement business strategies, which will require the individual to demonstrate personal initiative, ownership, and accountability to stakeholders across the organization. We are looking for a hands-on individual who will implement large scale strategic projects across the entire Village Medical system.  You’ll need to demonstrate the ability to inform and influence market leadership by developing and nurturing strong relationships that result in execution.

How you can make a difference:

  • Serving as liaison between multiple high-level stakeholder to architect and publish  project plans that support timely implementation of strategic project
  • Ownership and project management responsibility for large scale strategic planning processes including process enhancement, implementation and driving to completion. Lead change and execution on business objectives.
  • Tracking key operating meeting takeaways and action steps and required follow-up to manage project points to completion
  • Balancing the needs of local markets and corporate stakeholders with a service mentality that continuously improves key operational goals
  • Building strong cross functional relationships at various levels
  • Manage and lead a team of direct reports to effectively achieve project goals and meet key project milestones

  • Experience performing under pressure with a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing what you say you will do
  • You are solution-oriented and have a passion for being hands-on in problem-solving and execution
  • You are self-starting and maintain a high sense of urgency and accountability in delivering measurable results in line with agreed upon timeframes

Experience to drive change:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; healthcare industry experience strongly preferred 
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant, progressive operations experience; ideally a background that has used financial and other data to drive operational reporting and discipline
  • Strong financial and data analytics acumen; operational in nature but with technical knowledge of systems and concepts and can liaison between data and operations
  • Proven reporting and program development experience including past experiences building cohesive process and supporting structure in a geographically dispersed, complex business structure
  • Prior experience managing a P&L or accountability for a large-scale project, initiative or department
  • Desire to be hands-on with a track record of “rolling up your sleeves” to drive desired outcomes
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage and pivot between competing priorities
  • Proven experience operating successfully within ambiguity; a results-oriented professional who can make sense of chaos to continually deliver desired results
  • A flexible mindset and personality; someone who can demonstrate the ability to think outside the box and formulate creative solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, a high attention to detail, and critical problem-solving skills to garner credibility and develop strong relationships
  • Ability to travel as needed, likely 25 – 30%

For Colorado Residents only: The target hiring compensation range for this role is $117,000 to $146,000. At VillageMD, compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. This role may be eligible for annual/quarterly bonus incentives (if applicable), and the selected candidate will be eligible for a valuable company benefits plan, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401k plan with company match.
