About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sales Director or Sr. Sales Director to join our rapidly growing Sales team at Apeel. You will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth and profitability, contributing to the sustainable expansion of our business. Your primary responsibility will be to support our Sales team in increasing demand for our products among retail customers. You will directly assist our key retail partners in successfully incorporating Apeel products onto their shelves as well as collaborating with key Apeel supply partners on potential leads and opportunities in their network. To excel in this role, you must possess deep insights into consumer needs and a comprehensive understanding of the produce retail environment.
This fully remote position will report directly to the Vice President of Sales and will be based in the United States. As part of the role, you can expect up to 30% travel to customer sites and retail locations, across North America. We are looking for a candidate who can join our team immediately.
What You'll Do:
- Collaborate with our Sales team to support the sell-in and implementation process for Apeel programs with new retailer partners
- Design end-to-end commercial programs to effectively implement our products with retailers. Provide expert guidance on category management topics, including quality control, assortment and merchandising, store rollouts, inventory levels and supply chain, point of sale, marketing, pricing, and more
- Engage in pre- and post-sales discussions and trainings with key retailers and supplier partners
- Analyze industry and consumer data and insights to identify trends and opportunities
- Work closely with internal groups at Apeel (including marketing, R&D, and technical functions) to develop commercial strategies and implement customer programs
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working with produce category managers or related industry
- Over 10 years of experience in sales, implementation, consulting, or solutions within a relevant field
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with retail organizations, including VP-level customers as well as store and warehouse teams
- Previous experience in account management within a sales, marketing, or implementation-type capacity
- Proficiency in retail analytics and performance metrics, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies (expertise with Excel, PowerBI, Nielsen, and other data platforms is a plus)
- Ability to design comprehensive programs considering the entire supply chain (consumer, retailer, supplier)
- Proficiency in creating reports, presentations, and managing complex spreadsheets
