DISTRIBUTION CENTER JANITOR

JOB TITLE:DISTRIBUTION CENTER JANITOR (DCJ) POSITION CLASSIFICATION:Non-Exempt REPORTS TO:Distribution Center Manager JOB SUMMARY The Distribution Center Janitor (DCJ) is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and organization of our warehouse and logistics facility. This includes cleaning restrooms, breakrooms, loading docks, common workspaces, equipment areas, and outdoor spaces around the distribution center. A clean, well-maintained facility supports efficient operations and a safe working environment for all team members. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of restrooms, breakrooms, offices, and other shared employee spaces. • Sweep, mop, and scrub warehouse floors, aisles, and dock areas using industrial cleaning equipment. • Clean and maintain loading docks, trash areas, and outdoor perimeters of the facility. • Empty and replace trash and recycling bins throughout the distribution center. • Monitor and sanitize high-touch surfaces such as time clocks, door handles, workstations, and shared equipment. • Maintain proper stock and organization of janitorial supplies and PPE in designated storage areas. • Perform light maintenance and upkeep tasks such as replacing light bulbs or cleaning vents and fans. • Conduct safety inspections related to cleanliness and promptly report hazards or needed repairs. • Assist with spill cleanup, debris removal, and basic hazard mitigation during and after operations. • Operate cleaning tools, vacuums, floor scrubbers, and other equipment safely and in accordance with training. • Support a clean and orderly work environment aligned with health, safety, and operational standards. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a safe, clean workplace • Ability to work independently and follow cleaning schedules with minimal supervision • Comfortable in a fast-paced, industrial warehouse environment • Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with supervisors and other departments • Familiarity with cleaning best practices and safe chemical handling QUALIFICATIONS Education • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required Experience • At least 1 year of janitorial or custodial experience in an industrial, warehouse, or large commercial setting • Experience with floor scrubbers, sweepers, and janitorial tools • Ability to lift, move, and transport materials and cleaning equipment • Must be able to complete all required safety and equipment training WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Active warehouse and loading dock environment, with indoor and outdoor responsibilities • Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, machinery, and warehouse noise • Ability to walk, bend, crouch, push, pull, and lift for extended periods • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance • Manual dexterity for handling tools, equipment, and cleaning tasks • Occasional work on ladders or elevated platforms • Work may include early morning, evening, or weekend shifts depending on operational needs PAY RANGE:$20.00 – $22.00 per hour Equal Employment Opportunity Statement: Airport Home Appliance is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
