Emergency Call Handling is the critical interface for the citizen into the command center and public safety workflow. Motorola Solution is the leading software developer and solution provider for Emergency Call Handling. This software enables 911 centers to receive and process calls at Public Safety Answering Points across North America. The Emergency Call Handling solution team is one business sleeve of the Motorola Solutions Software Enterprise, where the innovation of workflow enhancements is being developed for call handling, incident management, responder dispatching, and situational awareness. This position will be a member of the team working on software applications for Public Safety Agencies.
The Emergency Call Management Portfolio and Delivery Management team is responsible for delivering commitments promised to customers and stakeholders in support of the organization’s vision. We partner with internal and external Product and Engineering teams to manage scope, schedule, dependencies and risks throughout the planning and execution phases for new products or large/complex releases.
Job Description

The ECM Program Manager will be responsible for leading and managing new and / or complex technology solutions throughout the agile software development lifecycle for a successful new product launch. Primary responsibilities include managing scope, schedule, dependencies and risks across multiple teams and locations.

A strong applicant will see the big picture of how various work streams align and then work with teams to create and execute on a plan to complete their milestones and deliverables on time, including identification and management of risks and dependencies throughout the program.

Core Responsibilities

  • Drive multiple, cross functional teams towards a common goal

  • Lead team in identification and management of scope, schedule, dependencies and risks; serve a primary point of contact for these deliverables

  • Create long and short term project plans, including setting targets for milestones and holding teams accountable to meet commitments; identify when plans are outside acceptable bounds and adjust as needed

  • Ensure dependencies are clearly articulated to / from external teams and commitments are documented and communicated to all impacted

  • Clearly and accurately report project status to multiple levels of management; escalate needs outside project team’s ability to resolve

  • Identify conflicting priorities and quickly engage the right people to resolve

  • Anticipate, identify and remove blockers; partner with stakeholders to find source of obstacles and work to overcome those obstacles with creative problem solving 

  • Enable team to make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress within the project

  • Partner with other Program/Project Managers to align parallel project deliverables as well as develop and optimize tools and processes to increase delivery predictability

  • Able to work in CST (Central Time zone)

  • Proven ability to lead global projects and / or teams in a multi site, cross functional, highly matrixed environment; able to gain trust of leaders at all levels

  • Working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall software development lifecycle methodologies

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills as well as strong facilitation and presentation skills

  • Strong experience facilitating change and collaborating with senior level stakeholders

  • Proven skills influencing key stakeholders from within and external to the organization

  • Ability to understand and communicate the big picture while being able to be detail-oriented about execution

  • Self-motivated, results-driven with a strong sense of urgency

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years experince OR 10+ years of progressively increasing responsibility related to Project Management
