Editorial Copywriter

Cruise Critic, the world's largest online cruise resource and part of Tripadvisor.com, is seeking an Editorial Copywriter to join its Content team. This position will be part of the global operations, working closely with our teams in North America and the U.K. to produce and scale new pages and templates, SEO-optimized articles and content, and features written for non-site traffic channels (which could include working with our email and social media teams). 

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is both independent and a team player. They shouldn't be shy about sharing ideas and approaches to new traffic-driving content types that keep users coming and returning to Cruise Critic. . The right person should have an understanding of the user journey in the travel planning and booking process and how content can play a role.

The position will be remote, with the expectation of working US East Coast hours. A limited amount of travel might be required. It reports into the Senior SEO Editor.

Candidates should have a journalism, marketing, writing or related degree with at least three years of experience working for an online publication. They will also be passionate about travel and cruises, and enjoy working in a team environment, both within a department and a larger business organization.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with Senior SEO Editor to craft and implement editorial copy on large-scale initiatives
• Write new content (or adapt existing content) for targeted traffic channels, including email subscriber segments, SEO, and social media channels
• Develop one-off and large-scale content ideas based on industry trends, user behavior metrics, and SEO data
• Communicate regularly with Content and Marketing partners on project status; give and receive feedback; participate in cross-departmental brainstorms
• Monitor and analyze traffic metrics to report on progress of owned projects. 
• Manage content and deadlines for assigned projects
• Contribute to ongoing assessments of the Cruise Critic user journey and its changes over time
• Work alongside our SEO team to complete copy requests, primarily coming from the Marketing team 

Essential Skills:

• Excellent writing and editing skills, plus the ability to fully embrace Cruise Critic voice
• Proficiency with Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Search Console and/or other comparable data visualization program(s) 
• Experience with SEMRush or other industry-standard SEO research program
• Ability to write and edit content designed to draw people to the site via SEO and keep them there
• Use data to brainstorm and create individual stories and large-scale content initiatives
• Partnering with and communicating effectively with non-editorial departments on projects (including Marketing and Sales colleagues)
• Understanding of a site's user journey and ability to create content to move the user through the decision-making funnel
• Comfort with using editorial tools and proposing ideas for efficiency and improvement
• Ability to communicate efficiently, proactively and accurately on calls and in print
• Quick decision making based on data and company growth goals
• Experience working in a remote, global, team environment with colleagues in different time zones
• Strong understanding of digital media landscape as it relates to business growth
• Track record of contributing to Editorial and cross-departmental brainstorms
• Ability to write for global audiences, with localization and translations in mind

Qualifications:

• College degree in journalism, marketing, writing or related field
• 3+ years in editorial or copywriting or editorial
• Passion for travel a plus

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $115,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. An employee’s pay position within the wage range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. This compensation range may also be modified in the future.
