WHOOP is seeking a Embedded QA Engineering Manager to lead a team within the Hardware Accelerate team which builds the technology foundation for quality of firmware development. This team’s work is critical to delivering robust systems that streamline internal workflows and empower engineers to focus on breakthroughs in development.
In this role you will have both technical and people management responsibilities. On the technical side you’ll work closely with product management and internal stakeholders to refine requirements and scope scalable solutions. You’ll support the team in shaping technical designs architecture and operational best practices helping maintain high standards for reliability flexibility security and user sentiment. On the people side you’ll lead and mentor a cross-functional team of backend iOS and Android engineers by providing regular feedback and fostering professional growth. You’ll be instrumental in promoting a positive high-performance culture grounded in innovation teamwork psychological safety and continuous learning.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for building platforms the integrate across embedded mobile backend and third party services that enable research initiatives
Define technical strategy architecture and design for features that support research-focused initiatives
Partner with cross-functional leaders to understand research needs and translate them into scalable systems
Manage third-party technology vendors and relationships
Maintain engineering best practices in development testing and deployment processes
Serve as a player-coach by contributing technically while driving team delivery and growth
Provide regular mentorship feedback and coaching to team members to support their professional development and growth
Foster a culture of innovation psychological safety collaboration and continuous learning
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience as a hands-on software developer combined with a proven track record in engineering management
Strong technical skills in software development testing and deployment
Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver complex cross-functional projects
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to align technical and business priorities
Comfortable working in a fast-paced high-growth environment with a strong sense of ownership
Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions
