The Analog Garage is a high-energy, fast-paced, advanced R&D team within the CTO Office of Analog Devices (ADI) at our downtown Boston location. Its mission is to identify and develop new technologies, capabilities, and business models critical to Analog Devices' future success. The projects we work on span exciting domains including artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D imaging, life sciences, green energy, human-machine interfaces, and more.
As an Emerging Business Manager in the CTO Office, you will lead business strategy formation and drive commercial execution for the Analog Garage's advanced semiconductor technologies for Life Sciences. Your ultimate objective is to commercialize and scale these new technologies to create new businesses for Analog Devices.
You will drive business strategy and decision-making in all project phases: customer discovery, new product definition, early R&D, MVP design, go-to-market, and business scaling. You will work closely with agile R&D teams to decide which features or performance attributes are most likely to determine project success.
Many of our projects are done in tight collaboration with internal ADI business units (BUs). Building solid relationships with these teams and understanding their business, applications, and customers are critical to the Garage's success. In many cases, you'll be working closely with these groups to align on commercialization strategy and paths to market.
You will be expected to synthesize, communicate, and execute strategic business plans for deep technical exploration projects you'll be running.
Activities you'll be driving include:
- Researching industry, technology and application trends
- Assessing the competitive landscape and how it is evolving
- Conducting customer discovery to understand emerging customer needs
- Defining our value proposition and how we sustain an advantage
- Crafting product specifications and working with the technical team to execute
- Sustaining close collaborations across Analog Devices' business units and with external partners
- Creating and implementing go-to-market strategy
Minimum qualifications
- Track record of successful business development for novel Life Sciences products within a corporation or startup
Preferred qualifications (not all necessary but a mix of these is preferred)
- PhD in a Physical Sciences field, or Bachelors/Masters with equivalent work experience
- MBA or equivalent business career experience
- Technical background in Life Sciences with hands-on knowledge in one or more of the following: High throughput screening (HTS), Cell-based assays, Electronic cell technologies (patch clamp, micro-electrode arrays, transfection, or related)
- Familiarity with semiconductor technologies such as CMOS, wafer-processing, and microfluidics
- Understanding of the drug discovery process and market trends
For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
