Growth Engineer, Acquisition Team
We are hiring an engineer with a passion for frontend development to join our Growth team. You will be directly responsible for growing our business and will have a significant impact on the continued success of Gusto. The right person also enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to create experiments, campaigns, and improve our website to attract new customers.

We strongly value end-to-end ownership. Gusto’s growth engineers apply an entrepreneurial mindset to their day-to-day, working cross-functionally to master the ins and outs of the business, and using that knowledge to guide their work across a diverse tech stack.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Create new experiences on Gusto.com that introduce Gusto to the world
- Build and maintain product pages on Gusto.com that meet SEO requirements
- Build and run experiments to determine what experiences attract new customers effectively
- Use Audience Targeting to ensure that the right person sees the right experience at the right time
- Optimize the website performance and structure for SEO
Here’s what we're looking for:
- 4+ years of technical experience
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JS
- Experience with frontend frameworks like React
- Experience with web application frameworks
- Experience turning hi-fi mockups into elegantly executed code
- Ideally experience with audience targeting tools like Tealium, Intercom, etc.
- A passion for well-structured, easily maintainable, well-documented code
- A history of strong cross-functional collaboration with marketing and/or other non-technical teams
- Bonus for having experience with Ruby on Rails
- Bonus for experience optimizing web.dev metrics, lighthouse scores. Such as improving LCP, TFB, TTI, and CLS.
