About the position:

As Employment Counsel, North America, you will be responsible for and manage employment and compliance matters across Canada as well as contribute to employment matters and compliance for our operations across North America (Canada and the United States). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the ongoing growth of Globalization Partners across the North American region and globally.

 

What you will do:

  • Provide high-quality oral and written legal advice concerning employment law matters throughout the North American region. 
  • Assist in developing creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes across the North American region.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of company policies.
  • Partner across departments to build scalable and compliant processes and templates.
  • Maintain current knowledge of national, state, provincial, and local laws across the North American region.
  • Assist with employment-related disputes and litigation including as a liaison with outside counsel.
  • Participate in the creation and delivery of training related to employment law matters.
  • Assorted other legal team projects to address the needs of a global, high growth company.


What we're looking for:

  • Qualified to practice law in one of the Canadian provinces or territories.
  • 3-6 years of combined employment law experience, including law firm practice and /or in-house.
  • Experience with a broad range of Canadian employment law.
  • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail, with expertise in drafting and negotiating employment settlement agreements.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English, and focused attention to detail.
  • Sound legal judgment, creative problem-solving ability, and analytical skills.
  • Able to think on your feet, multitask, prioritize, and be proactive. 
  • Ability to provide clear guidance on complex and sensitive issues with an appropriate sense of commercial risk.
