The Architecture Consulting position is an individual contributor role responsible for public cloud and on-premises infrastructure architecture, with a focus on end user computing. Collaborates with business and technology team members to develop and communicate technology roadmaps, strategies, and architecture standards to meet current and future business requirements. Designs conceptual and logical architectures for infrastructure systems that support solutions to complex business problems. Evaluates current state architecture and develops strategies for migration, modernization, and legacy technology retirement. Provides architecture leadership for technology research, evaluation, and operationalization of new end user computing capabilities. Ensures alignment with CNA's Enterprise Architecture processes.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, New York and Washington, the standard base pay range for this role is $78,500 to $301,400 annually.Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Creates, maintains, and communicates architecture roadmaps, standards, and strategies for the end user computing domain that align with strategic objectives.
- Designs and communicates conceptual and logical architectures for infrastructure systems. Provides architecture leadership for the evaluation, selection, and operationalization of new end user computing technologies.
- Develops and maintains relationships with key technology and business partners. Collaborates with partners to develop and drive end user computing strategies in support of CNA's business initiatives. Communicates strategies to broad audiences in architecture review meetings and other forums.
- Provides end user computing domain expertise. Consults with team members in developing optimal solutions for CNA's business initiatives. Proposes suggestions and best practices to optimize CNA's end user computing architecture. Creates blueprints for migrating legacy technologies to modern platforms and retiring legacy assets, thereby reducing technical debt and increasing platform stability.
- Researches emerging technologies and designs infrastructure solutions to enhance operational effectiveness, reduce costs and/or system risks, and increase speed to market.
- Manages vendor relationships to maintain state of the art technical knowledge and to develop image as a leading corporation utilizing the latest thinking in technology.
- Leads and facilitates architecture governance and review processes.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
Typically reports to Assistant Vice President (AVP) or above.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Detailed technical knowledge of end user computing and collaboration technologies, including desktop operating systems (Windows, macOS), office productivity applications and cloud-based workplace suites (email, calendar, meeting, messaging, collaboration, file sharing, and file syncing), virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and application virtualization, software distribution, endpoint management, endpoint security, mobile technology management, end user computing hardware, and conference room technology.
- Familiar with end user computing security concepts, directory services, and best practices in this area.
- Strong interpersonal presentation and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external partners at all levels. Proficient in clearly explaining technical concepts and tailoring presentations to the target audience.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills. Ability to lead teams to optimal technology solutions that meet CNA's business objectives.
- Familiar with enterprise architecture processes and frameworks, including creating and maintaining roadmaps, strategies, and architecture standards, as well as designing conceptual and logical architectures.
- Ability to research emerging technologies and determine fit-for-purpose with CNA's requirements.
- Ability to assess the current infrastructure estate and create strategies for modernizing and retiring legacy platforms.
- Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving problems within scope of responsibility.
- Familiar with modern software development and deployment practices, including DevOps concepts and agile methodologies.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related work experience.
- Advanced degree preferred. Typically a minimum of ten years of Information Technology experience, preferably in infrastructure engineering and/or architecture roles. Public cloud experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives (influence without authority). Experience working with technology vendors and managed service providers. Good understanding of networking, databases, scripting languages, and automation preferred.
