Job Summary

This position is responsible for the design and commercialization of advanced RF Front End Module (FEM) RFICs for pSemi's WIFI product division. The WIFI design engineer will focus on the development of WIFI FEM RFIC's in the 2.4G, 5G and 6G bands with the CMOS SOI process.

This person will work in a team to determine the methods and procedures for new WIFI FEM RFIC designs, including concept and feasibility study, as well as design and development of RFIC circuit blocks. The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of RFIC circuit design and be able to coordinate activities necessary to complete major projects with senior team members. Educational background in RFIC circuit analysis, basic design, and RF systems is required.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:
  • Product Design and Evaluation: Schematic Capture, IC layout, Simulation, Package Analysis, Evaluation Board Design, Design Validation and Design Correlation
  • Product Documentation: Document all relevant product and design information to educate others on novel design techniques and provide guidance on product usage
  • Product Characterization: Work with Characterization and Test Engineers to define, conduct and analyze data from product performance characterization
  • Production ATE Development: Work with Test Engineers to define, develop and ramp production ATE solutions
  • Product Support: Work with Product, Test and Manufacturing Engineers to help assess field failures, support yield improvements, failure analysis, etc
  • Help push the boundaries of pSemi's existing SOI technology by supporting modeling and technology device development

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
  • 0-2 years of RF/Analog IC product development with strong technical skills including:
    • Experience with S parameter design and measurement methods and matching techniques.
    • Experience with transistor level IC design and layout in at least one and preferably more of the technology node:
      • Bulk CMOS, CMOS-SOI, SiGe-CMOS, GaAs, GaN
      • Understanding of the comparative advantage and tradeoffs between the different processes.
  • Knowledge of IC fabrication and how it impacts circuit performance
  • Basic understanding of non-linear effects in transistors
  • Knowledge of basic analog bias and control circuits and their impact on overall RF system
  • Experience with EM (Electromagnetic) modelling of high frequency RFIC's and PCB's
  • Familiarity with analog & RF IC layout techniques
  • Experience in design, debug and optimization of RFICs in the lab using standard lab equipment
  • Hands on use of RF measurement equipment to validate and correlate performance metrics such as ACP/ACLR, EVM, IP3, NF and gain
  • Software tools: Virtuoso, Cadence Spectre, Keysight ADS , EM software and Matlab

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent field); MSEE (or equivalent field) preferred
