Role overview
CarGurus’ Dealer Enterprise Services team is looking for an Engineering Manager to join us in Cambridge, MA. On the Enterprise Services team, you’ll drive a product suite that contributes a major revenue stream to the core business. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll manage a squad of engineers focused on building and supporting features to ensure that the dealers we partner with are getting the best possible experience from our site. Potential project opportunities: create a way to automate a review-approval process for dealers, making sure there are no duplicates in our account matching process, integrating with third-party APIs, and improving our fraud- detection process.

- Manage a team of talented engineers while providing technical leadership and mentorship to the broader team
- Ensure your team writes clean, well-tested, and efficient code.
- Take generic tasks and break them into small, self-contained tasks.
- Accurately estimate and prioritize units of work and drive the incremental release of moderately sized projects
- Be deeply engaged in the full development lifecycle designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, monitoring, and improving software
- Contribute to road mapping discussions by proposing new ideas for technical investment and providing estimates
- Advocate for new technology and new methodologies
- Continuously learn and expand your capabilities

Communication and collaboration will be paramount in the success of this role. You will be responsible for driving the folks on the team to work together to come up with the best solutions! You will also collaborate across partnering engineering teams, Product Management, UX Design, Analytics, Sales, Operations, and Customer Success.
What you'll bring
- 5+ years of software development experience
- 1-3 years of leadership/management experience
- Expertise with JavaScript or Java and cursory knowledge of the other
- Understanding of MySQL or similar relational database
- Project management skills, experience with Agile methodologies a plus
- People focused technical leader with high Emotional Intelligence
- Strong collaborator with demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional team including Product, Design, Analytics
- Strong communicator who can tailor message based on audience which can range from junior engineer to senior business leader to third-party vendor
- Detail oriented leader who makes data driven decisions
