Job description

BASIC FUNCTION The Welder Repair/Fabricator cuts and joins metals and other materials for projects within the shop as well as travel to client locations to perform job duties at their site. Daily responsibilities include reviewing specifications, laying out metal components, cutting, fabricating, and welding those pieces together to create tools, metal parts or make repairs. EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent. EXPERIENCE Three (3) years of professional welding experience using a variety of welding equipment, machinery and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Advanced knowledge of industrial metalwork, engineering design and manufacturing procedures. • Proficient and experienced using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (MIG, Stick and Fluxcore). • Ability to work long hours standing including some evenings and weekends when required. • Attention-to-detail and detailed precision work. • Strong work ethic and ability to work as a team with good time-management skills. • Is committed to performing quality work the first time with little or no need for re-work; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Fabricate and construct metal components to precise specifications as designed and required and in compliance with all applicable standards of safety and performance. • Set up metalwork machinery including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears. • Set up and align components and repair metal components in order to restore full functionality and safety performance. • Execute particular welds in a professional manner, examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. • Work independently or with a small team of other welders to complete large and complex projects. Manage workflow, meet deadlines, and troubleshoot problems on a daily basis. • Works in conjunction with other crews and lead persons and responsible for maintaining good working relationship with the other crew members.
