Fabric Worker (Tailoring)

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Fabric Worker (Tailoring)~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties to include normal shortening/lengthening sleeves/hems, and blind stich hems on trousers and slacks. I can alter the waist/hip measurements of trousers/slacks/skirts and inspect for proper fit. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

• PHYSICAL EFFORT: Fitting duties require frequently lifting items weighing 40-70 pounds independently and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds with assistance. Work involves continuous standing and walking on concrete floors, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching above heads. Sewing duties require sitting for long periods of time with continual movement of hands, arms and fingers placing items in position for sewing operations.
• WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in moderately heated, lighted and ventilated building, however, it is subject to heat from the adjacent pressing area. Is subject to cuts abrasions, bruises or strains from handling boxes and bundles of clothing. There is some danger of minor hand injuries such as injuries to fingers from needles and to serious hand cuts when operating the pants cutting machine. Frequently exposed to unpleasant body odors. Work surroundings are noisy and crowded from the number of soldiers processing.
