Fall 2023: Facilities Intern

Systems & Technology Research (STR) is a growing technology company with locations in Boston, MA, Arlington, VA, Dayton, OH, Palm Bay, FL, and Carlsbad, CA. We specialize in advanced research and development for defense, intelligence, and national security in cyber; next generation sensors, radar, sonar, communications, and electronic warfare; and artificial intelligence algorithms and analytics to make sense of the complexity that is exploding around us.
We are seeking a Facilities Intern for our Woburn, MA office. This position will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations with the facilities team and will have exposure to a variety of different aspects of the field including building maintenance and services, space planning, shipping & receiving, vendor relations, customer communication and catering. You will be an essential part of the smooth daily operation of our business.
Responsibilities

• Support shipping & receiving as needed
• Perform daily walk-throughs of the building to ensure the site is tidy and building systems are fully operational
• Act collaboratively to resolve problems associated with all building services (emergency service or maintenance calls, janitorial, parking, badging, conference rooms, and all office furnishings, fixtures and equipment)
• Provide support for event coordination as needed (e.g., room reservations, room set up, order catering, manage calendar system, etc.)
• Take the lead on all catering order in the Woburn office.
• Coordinate, track, and monitor facilities/vendor services as needed (fire extinguisher inspections, service call guidance, Cintas visits, etc.)
• Escort contractors as required (i.e. pest control / plumber/ building management for any building issues)
• Assist with inventory management and supply ordering
• Assist with space planning (e.g., coordinate with leads on team growth, general office needs, update appropriate employee databases, update SIQ programs weekly, etc.)
• Assist with managing furniture inventory (assemble delivered furniture and/or manage 3 rd party handyman service)
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred Skills

• Working experience with Deltek Costpoint and ServiceNow business systems

Required Skills

• Ability to analyze problems and provide focused solutions and resolution
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
• Collaborative, customer service-oriented, self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills who works well as part of a team and independently
• Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite - specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

Education

• Working towards a degree in Facilities Management or similar field
