Job Description

The Director of Finance Transformation position at STR will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for leading the continued transformation of financial processes across the business. The director will partner with the VP of Finance, functional finance leads, division leads, business operations group, and other key stakeholders to enhance and develop scalable financial processes within the organization. The position requires an understanding and experience in multiple financial disciplines including financial planning & analysis, accounting, rate development, and government program finance controls. Additional requirements include communication skills, collaboration across multiple disciplines, and appreciation for the STR mission, business model and values. Leadership of these activities is critical to STR's financial goals and important work for a company that has an impact on national security in science & technology development and operations.
Duties of the position include:
  • Develop and execute to a scalable financial process and tools improvement roadmap; communicate status to plans
  • Partner with FP&A Lead to develop a standard forecasting process utilized within all divisions
  • Recommend and design systematic improvements with a goal to standardize internal management and division reporting
  • Lead the business systems analyst
  • Partner with HR, Contracts, and Purchasing for enhanced alignment with Finance
  • Work with outside vendors on a future ERP system and other financial tools
  • Develop new/forward looking financial metrics to help drive the business
  • Perform special project as needed directed by the CFO

Requirements
  • Demonstrated expertise in multiple financial disciplines
  • Past experiences in a growth S&T business and/or prime defense company
  • Experience in FP&A, Accounting, Rates, and Program Finance
  • Demonstrated organizational leadership capability
  • Experience working and influencing cross functionally
  • Displays executive presence and has worked with leadership teams
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning System implementation
  • Experience with development of internal controls and compliance
  • Past experience in labor utilization modeling and forecasting

Additional Requirements
  • Educational requirements: Bachelors in Finance, Accounting, Related field required; MS or MBA preferred
  • Years of experience: 15+ years total accounting and finance experience within the defense contracting industry. 10+ years of people management.
  • Location: Hybrid in the Boston area
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance for which U.S. citizenship is required
