What does a successful Fintech Lawyer do?
As the As a Fintech attorney supporting the Global Business Solutions group of Fiserv, you will focus on on drafting and negotiating agreements with merchant clients, referral and reseller partners, software partners and vendors. In this Lawyer role, you will have the opportunity to partner with other internal groups to bring to market new, cutting-edge, payments solutions as well as provide ongoing legal support for existing products. This role will provide advice on laws and rules (including those related to consumer rights and privacy) that impact the transaction processing businesses, and partner with other team members to provide guidance on other regulations, including those relating to data privacy, security and use. You will provide prompt guidance and support to senior business and sales executives.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Working directly with business unit representatives to draft and negotiate partner, client and other technology-related commercial agreements.
- Advising business partners on legal, contractual and risk matters impacting their business unit or product set.
- Partnering with product teams to commercialize new products and functionality.
- Providing consultation and legal advice with respect to strategic initiatives, technology projects, customer contracts, dispute resolution, regulatory matters, corporate policies and procedures, and administration.
- Effectively interacting with corporate specialists regarding finance, audit, tax, IT, publicity/press, regulatory, privacy and technology matters that affect the business divisions.
- Maintaining knowledge of industry best practices and affecting the operations of the Global Business Solutions business units.
- Developing and maintaining forms of contracts and other legal documentation
What you need to have:
- JD from accredited law school
- Licensed to practice, or ability to become licensed as in-house counsel to practice, in the state where your Fiserv office is located.
- In good standing with State Bar with no disciplinary record
- 5+ years of relevant experience as a transactional lawyer
- Well-demonstrated ability to draft, analyze and negotiate complex contracts
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and the confidence to effectively manage and interact with driven sales professionals
- Ability to travel up to 10%
