Summary:

The Front-End Developer plays a critical role on our digital agile delivery team, ensuring that we implement high-quality digital products and experiences to our users. This role is responsible for coding and implementing best-in-class website and application user interfaces through a collaborative work approach within our agile team model. Our digital solutions are based around user-centric design and a responsive-first methodology, along with compliance to Section 508 for users with disabilities.

Qualities for success include the ability to navigate complex tasks without supervision, prioritize competing needs of business and products, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Level I:

  • Designs, codes, and implements user interfaces for websites, web applications, mobile-responsive sites/applications, and other digital channels.
  • Works collaboratively with UX Researchers, UX Designers, and agile teams to deliver best-in-class digital user experiences.
  • Effectively collaborates on agile team by communicating estimates and reporting on progress. Connects with teammates with a focus on building solid working relationships to ensure the best possible team dynamics and cohesiveness.
  • Understands user stories and how to plan and estimate work based on them.
  • Uses the agile framework and maintains familiarity with the latest techniques for project management, analysis, testing, and implementation of projects.
  • Works with business partners and customers to understand business requirements and translate them into user interface standards.
  • Writes scalable and cross-browser compatible code that adheres to industry and departmental design/usability standards.
  • Documents and maintains user interface and coding standards.
  • Performs unit testing, peer design reviews and code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Provides on-call support for urgent and important events outside of core business hours.
  • Reviews analytic reports and makes recommendations for site improvements.
  • Researches to learn about new technologies, capabilities, and trends in web development to stay abreast of innovations and ensures we adhere to industry best practices.
  • Monitors 'Best in Class' and competitive web sites to benchmark improvement ideas, focusing on site usability, accessibility, and functionality.
  • Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.
  • Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.


Level II (in addition to Level I essential responsibilities/accountabilities):

  • Plays a lead role in projects that have significant impact to the company, both at strategic and execution levels. Identifies risks to the organization's overall user experience delivery and leads efforts towards establishing standards and implementation plans.
  • Interacts regularly with business partners at Director/VP level, presenting recommendations and statuses.
  • Designs operational strategies to meet new technology solutions and effectively recommends strategy updates or changes in direction. Develops code and analyzes, researches, and resolves ongoing system issues.
  • Ability to represent the company in external constituent and internal stakeholder forums.


Level III (in addition to Level II essential responsibilities/accountabilities):

  • Acts as team lead for developers, ensuring agile work is appropriately resourced and that Digital Domain Product Owner is aware of developer bandwidth.
  • Ensures consistency in UI Development by conducting code reviews for all applications involving UI change.
  • Gathers and evaluates user requirements in collaboration with Product Owners and UX Designers.
  • Works with UX Designers to ensure consistency with UI/UX development standards and guidelines.
  • Independently researches and develops multiple solutions/features and provides technical expertise.
  • Works with Application Development Lead and Architects to solution the development across the team.


Minimum Qualifications:
NOTE:

Level I:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interactive Design, New Media, Digital Marketing, Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Business, or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in user interface development. In lieu of the degree, a minimum of four (4) years of work experience in user interface development is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript, including Bootstrap, JQuery, AngularJS, ReactJS and/or comparable frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of web content management systems (IBM WebSphere Portal, Liferay, Drupal, etc), web development editors (Sublime Text, WebStorm, etc), graphic editing programs (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc), XML, eForms, FTP, source code control systems, HTTP/S protocols, and web development debugging tools.
  • Experience working as part of an Agile team preferred.


Level II (in addition to Level I minimum qualifications):

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in user interface development. In lieu of the degree, a minimum of six (6) years of work experience in user interface development is required.
  • Experience working as part of an Agile team required.


Level III (in addition to Level II essential responsibilities/accountabilities):

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in user interface development. In lieu of the degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in user interface development is required.
  • Experience leading or managing teams preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Works from a stationary desk a majority of time

  • Must be able to travel independently across the health plan regions
