General Manager Marketing
Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
The position will lead and manage marketing activities through all touchpoints and provide strategic direction to ensure consistency in the development and implementation of the marketing plan across all Dealers in South Africa and Sub Saharan Africa
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide the planning and leadership to the Marketing Department by ensuring that the appropriate structures, systems, competencies and values are developed in order to meet and exceed the goals of the Marketing plan over a 5 - 10 year cycle.
- Assume overall responsibility for developing the annual brand plan for the organisation; for strategic market planning; market research programmes and control of the marketing budget.
- Achieve marketing and sales operational objectives by contributing marketing and sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
- Accomplish marketing human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
- Meet marketing and sales financial objectives by forecasting requirements for a five year period; preparing annual budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Determine annual and gross-profit plans by providing recommendations to production; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products; analyzing trends and results;establishing pricing strategies; recommending selling prices; monitoring costs, competition, supply, and demand.
- Accomplish marketing and sales objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs.
- Identify marketing opportunities by identifying consumer requirements; defining market, competitor's share, and competitor's strengths and weaknesses; forecasting projected business; establishing targeted market share.
- Improve product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities; and coordinating new product development.
- Sustain rapport with key stakeholders by making periodic visits to Dealer and Agency Partners; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities in an ever evolving environment.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Accomplish marketing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES (KSA)
- Strong business acumen
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with other departments, all management levels and dealer relations.
- Ability to manage projects through cross-functional partners.
- Ability to influence others - peers, management, dealers.
- Negotiation skills
- Sound interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated focus on driving for results
- Ability to lead a team to ensure the successful implementation of strategies
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Business or associated Field
- Minimum 10 years' experience as a Marketing Manager, ideally within the Automotive Industry
