Your Opportunity
Stantec has an opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with large-scale infrastructure (marine or waterfront a plus) design and construction experience to be embedded with the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), Office In Charge of Construction (OICC), and provide design support to ongoing waterfront construction projects at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. This is a fulltime, 5-day per week assignment at the Shipyard.

No one project at the Shipyard is the same - you will have an opportunity to work in a direct client-facing role, manage interdisciplinary teams, and think outside of the box to deliver creative solutions to complex problems.

We seek a team player who desires a highly collaborative work environment, has excellent communication skills, and strong design and construction engineering capabilities and experience. Candidate will join the OICC's Design Team in its dedicated office location on the Shipyard in Kittery, ME. This is a Stantec position, with associated compensation and benefits.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Understand and interpret contract documents - including design drawings and specifications - to verify that design aspects of the construction are in conformance with the contract requirements.
• Review contractor submittals, respond to RFIs, and perform technical evaluation of value engineering proposals or field-initiated design changes.
• Integrate with OICC counterparts in the construction management and engineering technician divisions, coordinating with and supporting a diverse group of office and field engineers, construction inspectors, and architect-engineer (AE) consultants.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated experience in infrastructure design and construction procedures and policies.
• Strong oral and written communications skills and ability to solve problems, coordinate with others, and work with AE consultants.
• US Citizenship required; ability to pass DBIDs and NAVSEA badge background check required.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (BS) in mechanical engineering and 3-10 years relevant experience in design, construction, or rehabilitation of large-scale transportation, marine, or civil works infrastructure. Familiarity with UFC codes and Professional engineering registration a plus.
