Graphic Designer

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The graphic designer supports the Founders Series'efforts to win and keep business by creating robust marketing and sales support materials, both for print and online, that advance Lockton's brand position. Using strong conceptual skills, the graphic designer consults with internal clients to understand their business needs and create compelling design concepts across a broad spectrum of media - print, video, digital and social . This position looks for opportunities to mentor less experienced teammates and provide ideas and direction when needed. Although the designer spends a significant portion of time creating documents using InDesign, many pieces are also created using Illustrator, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and video editing software .

Duties

• Provide high-quality projects, ensuring error-free products by following established brand guidelines, proofreading procedures, operating system spell check and using available reference materials for proper grammar, punctuation and sentence structure.
• Strategically designs and places graphic designs and elements into Lockton's business deliverables that creates a cohesive visual experience that tells the Lockton story.
• Exercise independent judgment in interpreting instructions and suggest changes to author as needed to produce creative, quality work products.
• Understand basic marketing principles and ability to think critically about content effectiveness as it relates to layout.
• Ability to generate and manipulate graphic images, animations, sound, text, and video into consolidated and seamless multimedia programs.
• Communicate with Associates and coworkers in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive and pleasant work environment.
• Responsible for effective communication with team members to ensure team workload is managed.
• Prepare documents for prepress when working with outside print vendors.
• Ensure all assigned projects are properly logged prior to delivery to author.
• Be able to create design concepts, logos and graphics from start to finish.
• Protects the confidentiality of sensitive information learned by performing the duties of the position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the graphic design field.
• Advanced skill using graphic design, imaging, video and presentation software.
• Strong ability to demonstrate creativity and exercise latitude under short timeframe constraints creating branded, high-quality and visually pleasing deliverables.
• General knowledge of Lockton's service areas and practice groups.
• Must have an expert knowledge of the entire Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, with a heavy emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Must have expert working knowledge of the MS Office Suite, with an emphasis on PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Ability to create effective design elements based upon oral and written end-user consultation and/or communication.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize a heavy individual workload to meet required deadlines and produce a large volume of creative, visually pleasing products in a demanding environment while maintaining exceptional work-product quality.
• Ability to understand when to proceed alone and when to involve the Creative Director or other team members.
• Ability to work short-notice overtime hours on an as-needed basis.
• High-level verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills to interact with Founders Series' Associates.
• Ability to generate and manipulate graphic images, animations, sound, text and video into consolidated and seamless multimedia deliverables.
• Willingness and ability to expand knowledge and effectiveness in the graphic arts area by successful completion of extended classes and workshops related to graphic arts.
