About the Opportunity

Northspyre is looking for a Head of People Operations to join our fast-growing venture-backed startup team. The Head of People Operations will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, people operations, and compliance while gradually building and scaling a team as the company grows. 

As Head of People Operations, you will bring at least 8 years of professional experience with a focus on people operations and general business operations. You are highly driven, strategic and a strong communicator. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as first full-time people operations and human resources professional on the Northspyre staff.
  • Lay the groundwork with processes and strategic planning for a future larger People Ops Team
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Northspyre employees regarding employment, payroll, benefits, and compliance.
  • Draft thoughtful policies and guidance around team culture, diversity and inclusion initiatives, 
  • Work with executive team and functional team leaders to own all human resources related activities.
  • Over time build, manage and motivate a team of People Ops and Recruitment professionals as the company scales
  • Manage onboarding process and offboarding process for new and former employees.
  • Promote culture and connectivity amount Northspyre team by planning and hosting regular events and establishing programs to help with team building
  • Provide human resources support and consultation across the business on the most complex issues, supporting staff, managers and executives in all related areas and regions including: recruitment, performance management, compensation and rewards, staff relations, and people development
  • Develop a compensation and total rewards framework that ensures we are able to attract, recognize, reward and retain top talent.
  • Create and manage a robust performance development process that enhances employee engagement with clear goals, feedback, and development options.
  • Have a laser focus on translating overall company financial goals into measurable metrics and objectives related to people operations and staffing at Northspyre.
  • Champion company values and best practices through example setting and constant communication with the broader team.

Must Haves

  • 8+ years of work experience post undergraduate degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in human resources, people operations and recruiting
  • Bachelor's degree
  • HR Certification (SHRM, SPHR, or similar)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience managing multiple direct-reports at the same time
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and a mentality to do whatever it takes (with integrity) to meet goals, deadlines and keep those around you accountable.
  • Willingness to work long but fulfilling 11-13 hour days
  • A professional, confident and collaborative personality; with ability to operate within multiple levels of the Northspyre organization
  • Attention to detail including reading the fine print. 
  • You are someone that constantly thinks about what could go wrong and thinks through actionable steps to avoid negative outcomes.
  • Operations savvy mindset, with an ability to identify and eliminate process friction while continuing to build scalable processes

Nice to Haves

  • You have worked in People Ops at an early stage venture-backed company
  • You have experience using applicant tracking systems like Greenhouse and other human resources or people management tools.
  • You have overseen and managed employee review cycles.
  • Strong understanding of health insurance policies, 401k, other benefits, and legal compliance around work authorization, labor policies (such as parental leave policies).
  • Strong organizational skills
