Summary
Do you have experience providing specialized ophthalmic tests and working with ophthalmic instruments? We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in performing psychophysical and electrophysical tests of visual function to join our team! As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will be managing various ophthalmic tests (visual acuity, electroetinography, optical coherence tomography, etc.), so please be sure to thoroughly describe your knowledge and experience in ophthalmic tests and instruments.

Qualifications
A. Completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. This degree major must have been in a field of study with coursework directly related to the work of the position to be filled, that included at least 24 semester hours in courses such as biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, medical technology, or physics.
OR
B. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: perform psychophysical testing to assess visual functions (e.g., measurements of visual acuity, visual fields, color vision, and dark adaptation) on a variety of patients; measure refractive errors using both manual and automatic objective refraction methods and refine these measurements using subjective refractive methods; performing ocular diagnostic procedures (e.g. tonometry, ophthalmic ultrasonography); and performing basic maintenance and cleaning on ocular testing equipment.

C. A combination of post-baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

- This position is designated as an "emergency essential" position and the selected candidate will be considered an "emergency essential" employee and will be required to be available, ready, willing, and able to report for duty under all circumstances (e.g., inclement weather, government closings and holidays, lapses in appropriations, non-emergency and emergency situations) for operation 24 hours a day and 365 days per year coverage.
