Job description

DCTS is seeking an industry professional and/or PA State Certified HVAC/Plumbing teacher to teach HVAC/Plumbing in our high school program. The HVAC and Plumbing Technology program introduces students to the basic concepts of residential and commercial work. With an emphasis on safety, students work with copper, black pipe, electric, and full HVAC systems. Topics covered include selecting and ordering materials, supplies, tools, codes, blueprint reading, and low voltage wiring. Students learn about safety, tools, residential work, blueprints, basic HVAC systems, and basic plumbing skills. Students are taught in compliance with the International Code Council (ICC) Plumbing, Mechanical, Fuel Gas Code and the Residential Construction Academy (RCA) industry standards. Candidates submitting applications will be required to present experience/working knowledge in the areas presented above. The job of CTE Teacher was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. Minimum requirements: Appropriate certificate as directed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (Note: Minimum four years of full-time, wage-earning work experience is required prior to employment and certification).
