Manages and analyzes information using a variety of techniques and tools, supports data management efforts with business owners and technical teams to manage and analyze information and data including master and reference data in adherence to USAA internal policies, standards, procedures, and external laws and regulations. This role will support one or ideally two or more information management functions:

• Metadata management to ensure information is understood.• Data Quality to ensure data is measured and trusted. • Retention Management to ensure data is retained and purged appropriately.• Data Security to ensure data is properly secured and handled based on

sensitivity and regulatory requirements.

This may include working with the Information Asset Stewards and technical Owners to log data sources, support the Authoritative Data Source certification, ingest metadata and data lineage into the Enterprise Data Repository, provide data quality oversight, monitor data SLAs and data quality index, remediation times, and monitor material modifications to ensure re-certification occurs if warranted.

Tasks: Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role. Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled. Follow written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities. Leverage intermediate data management knowledge in support of one or many of the information management practices. Act in a steward capacity or support role with expertise for the information steward as needed. Identify opportunities for improvement in processes. Participate in and possibly lead discussions with cross-functional teams. Participate in development of best practices and tools based on business needs. Maintain Information Asset Inventories. Ensure data and assets are classified appropriately. Support delivery of information in accordance with Information Governance standards and data management practices through documentation, collaboration, and execution of defined processes. Maintain metadata repository and proper metadata association. Review, validate, and record metadata and data quality information. Develop definitions, data quality rules, thresholds, and standard metrics of quality for data elements that support critical business processes. Develop controls to mitigate data quality risks including data quality plan development, implementing data quality rule checks, monitoring data quality results, reports and dashboards, as appropriate. Document and update data quality corrective action plans. Support compliance assessment process by reviewing and documenting failures from data quality compliance assessment checks. Recommend Master and Reference Data processes and procedures to align with Enterprise Policies and Standards. Create and maintain reference data in accordance to defined processes and procedures. Manage quality and maintenance of master data as it is created. Support archiving and purging activities of data in compliance with legal requirements in partnership with IT. Develop archiving and purging strategies and processes in stewardship capacity as needed. Support compliance assessment process by identifying and escalating items that may be a risk to the corporation. Manage Data Access security as needed in a steward capacity. Support Privacy initiatives through classification, tagging, and analysis of sensitive data. Ensure compliance and remediation of sensitive data in accordance to defined policies and processes. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business and Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and 4 years of experience in the job offered, or in a computer-related occupation. Alternatively, a Master's degree in Business and Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and 2 years of experience in the job offered, or in a computer-related occupation. Position requires:

  • Running Report and Data certification process, including identifying Critical Data Elements and managing data quality and integrity;
  • Running Metadata and Data Lineage operations, and facilitating designation of Authoritative Data Sources using Information Governance Tools (Information Governance Catalog);
  • Profiling Data, implementing and monitoring Data Quality rules and thresholds using Information Analyzer;
  • Performing data defect triaging, identifying data anomalies, performing root cause analysis to determine cause of data breach or defects using Service NOW;
  • Translating business requirements to technical specifications (including calculations and observations)
  • Performing Data Analysis for operational and decision-making using SQL and Python;
  • Compiling, reviewing, and performing qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and summarizing large pools of sensitive and critical data for high level analysis;
  • Identifying Risk mitigation strategies and options, including design, development, execution and tracking of Controls;
  • Data Management Systems and Structures (DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server).
