Job Description

Ibotta is seeking an Information Security Intern to join our innovative team and contribute to our mission toMake Every Purchase Rewarding. As a participant in our 2024 Summer Internship, you will have the opportunity to fully integrate with your team to directly contribute to ongoing Ibotta business initiatives. In addition to the daily time with your team, you will participate in ongoing teach outs curated to help build skills essential to transitioning into the workforce and building your career. We are looking for candidates who are eager to learn, excited to work on real-world business challenges, and want to be part of a mission-driven company.

This will be a full-time, 12 week, internship during the summer of 2024. This position is located in Denver, Colorado. Candidates must live in the United States.

What you will be doing:

  • Researching emerging threat actors and exploits and helping us mature our monitoring capabilities to alert on such incidents.

  • Familiarizing yourself with frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and identifying potential points of weakness in our threat landscape.

  • Working with our SIEM tool to refine and create alerting and monitoring to enhance our threat detection and reporting capabilities. 

  • Act as Level 1 alert triage where you will learn how to analyze security alerts and perform investigations.

  • Collaborating with our third party Security Operations Center on alert tuning and day-to-day administration of our SIEM.

  • Creating and updating architecture diagrams for data flows for our security tooling.

  • Assisting with periodic endpoint detection policy reviews and pushing updates to our fleet as necessary

  • Working and learning about our existing security tools to evaluate and optimize to improve efficiencies

What we are looking for:

  • Juniors working towards a bachelor’s degree with a focus in Cybersecurity or related field

  • Proven ability to think creatively and implement ideas from start to finish

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Hunger to learn and collaborate with your teammates

  • Functional understanding and experience with cloud-based computing solutions (Github, AWS)

  • Familiarity with at least one programming language, namely for interacting with relational databases (i.e. SQL).

  • Familiarity with penetration testing tools (port scanners, packet analyzers, application security scanners, etc). 

  • Interest in incident response and analyzing cyber attacks

Additional Details:

  • This position is located in Denver, CO and includes competitive pay and housing assistance for out of state students.

  • The hourly compensation for this role is: $33 per hour worked. This compensation range is specific to the United States labor market.
