This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Intermediate Backend Developer in United States.
This role is focused on building and evolving backend services that power a modern healthcare data platform used to manage and exchange critical clinical information. You will contribute to the full development lifecycle, from analyzing requirements and designing solutions to implementing, testing, and deploying backend components. Working primarily with Java and Spring, you will help develop scalable, reliable APIs and integration services, including FHIR-based operations. The role offers a strong balance of autonomy and collaboration, allowing you to take ownership of features while working closely with experienced engineers. You will also participate in code reviews, improve engineering practices, and contribute to technical documentation. The environment is fast-evolving, technically challenging, and oriented toward high-quality, healthcare-focused software development.
Accountabilities:
- Design and implement backend application components, including FHIR operations, using Java, Spring, and related technologies.
- Develop and maintain core product functionality with a focus on performance, scalability, and code quality.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards and development practices.
- Analyze functional requirements and propose effective technical solutions throughout the development lifecycle.
- Build and iterate on proof-of-concept integrations across systems and services.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues identified in testing or reported by customers.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Research emerging technologies and share insights to support continuous improvement.
- 4+ years of professional backend development experience in software engineering roles.
- Strong experience with Java and Spring framework in production environments.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, SQL databases, and version control systems such as Git.
- Experience delivering full end-to-end features, including development, testing, and deployment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within distributed engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in ambiguous or evolving requirements.
- Experience writing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7 or FHIR is a strong asset.
- Experience with Apache Camel and building integration workflows across distributed systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills.
- Competitive annual salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000.
