Summary
The NIH Clinical Center's Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM) offers laboratory diagnostic support in the area of immunology, hematology, phlebotomy, microbiology and chemistry to the Clinical Center.
This position is for an IT Specialist (Data Management) within the Laboratory Information System (LIS) team and will provide the team and DLM with the automation skills and knowledge necessary to support the LIS within DLM.

- The work requires physical dexterity; the ability to lift and move equipment of up to 30 pounds, crouching, crawling, stooping, reaching to change components and cables associated with the LIS.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for an Information Technology Specialist (Data Management), GS-2210 at the GS-12 level: You must have IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that I possess each of the following four competencies: 1. Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; 4. Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations,

You must demonstrate in your resume that you have at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, typically gained in the IT field or through performing IT related tasks such as: implementing and maintaining a laboratory information software (LIS) that processes, stores, and manages patient data related to laboratory processes and testing including hardware, software, and database components, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability; diagnosing and resolving database performance and management issues; developing database objects (e.g., stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, tables) for use in applications; and, implementing automated data integration and data transformation solutions to meet business requirement.
You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.

- This position is designated as an "emergency essential" position and the selected candidate will be considered an "emergency essential" employee and will be required to be available, ready, willing, and able to report for duty under all circumstances (e.g., inclement weather, government closings and holidays, lapses in appropriations, non-emergency and emergency situations) for operation 24 hours a day and 365 days per year coverage.
