STR’s Analytics Division develops novel solutions to the most challenging national security problems through advanced analytics. Our teams consist of motivated individuals with degrees in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, and data science. The Mission Applications (MA) Group in the Analytics Division develops and deploys software-intensive mission capabilities to defense and intelligence customers, leveraging technologies from STR research and development (R&D) groups, while matrixing in significant numbers of engineering staff from those groups. Staff organic to the mission applications group will have skills specifically targeting transition of technology to operational use, including program management, integration engineering at customer sites, DevSecOps, and business development with a deep understanding of missions and technology needs for national security.
The Role:Â
As a Temporary Junior Program Manager (PM) in the Analytics Analysis & Decision Systems (ADS) sector, we are looking for a leader who is passionate about collaborative problem solving and working on the hardest national security problems. The Junior PM will support other PMs managing a portfolio of research and development programs specifically focused on delivering an operational prototype to a motivated customer. This work includes managing all program phases, from marketing to proposal development, from contract initiation to execution, and from program close-out to transition. The Junior PM will also support business operations across the portfolio to enable successful execution. Â
This include: Â
- Working with our government customers and multi-contractor technical teams to identify mission requirements and prioritize technical developmentÂ
- Tracking the program schedule and milestones, coordinating with the STR business operations teams, communicating with our customers, and tracking program performance and riskÂ
- Supporting timely, successful deliveries of products to the customer and routinely collaborate across multi-disciplined teams in order to support STR technical leads and other key stakeholdersÂ
- Working with the principal investigator, technical staff, subcontractors, and support personnel to identify and address risks and issuesÂ
- Gathering, evaluating, and synthesizing data from multiple sources, such as project reports, project staff, and customer feedback to understand and communicate status and to identify trendsÂ
- Interacting with external program customers and internal company leadershipÂ
- Managing scientists, engineers, and technicians across broad areas of expertiseÂ
- Achieving cost, schedule, and customer objectives on advanced technology programsÂ
- Working in a fast-paced environment to enable successful contract executionÂ
- Building strong customer relationships and establish open lines of communicationÂ
This temporary position will be approximately 3 months, from July 2024 – September 2024 (we can be flexible on exact dates). The role will take advantage of STR’s flexible, hybrid environment – when the work does not require use of STR’s facilities, you are welcome to work remotely. Â
Who You Are:Â
- Program Management experience, military experience, or similar background with the intelligence communityÂ
- Experience in managing technical projects, developing tasks/sub-tasks, identifying & tracking program riskÂ
- Motivated collaborator who’s comfortable communicating to both technical and non-technical audiencesÂ
- History of interacting with decision-makers and customers to translate mission needs into end-to-end analytical solutionsÂ
- Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance, for which US citizenship is needed by the US Government
Even Better:Â
- Prior experience in a leadership role of a technical program for the Department of Defense or Intelligence CommunityÂ
- Experience working and collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams, including leading technical teams and mentoring less experienced staffÂ
- Knowledge of software development best practices and toolsÂ
- Active TS/SCI security clearanceÂ
- Experience spanning all project phases, from ideation to technology research and product developmentÂ
- Working knowledge of DoD or IC mission and acquisition processesÂ
- Technical breadth and a demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, technically diverse programs and teams.Â
- Entrepreneurial spirit and eager to engage in technical marketing and business developmentÂ
