Summary

The FP&A function provides senior management with forward looking projections and analysis of F&G’s financial results and operating performance, connecting strategy to performance.  The FP&A team has a significant contribution to the successful setting of F&G financial targets and the ultimate achievement of them. They also enable management to credibly communicate with external stakeholders.  The FP&A team partners to bring together all of the work of the deeply technical teams across finance, actuarial, investments, reinsurance and the lines of business to deliver value-added business analysis and metrics in support of enterprise-wide decision making.  This team will have a comprehensive understanding of all key business performance drivers and sophisticated financial models.

The Lead Financial Analyst - Reinsurance & Liquidity role is responsible for owning and executing best-in-class, scalable, statutory financial forecasts and analysis, with an emphasis on reinsurance and liquidity. This role will be pivotal to the success of FP&A through its active partnership across the finance and actuarial and departments.

Organization

This position reports to the VP, FP&A Forecasting & Analysis.  This position will work with multiple teams throughout the company, including but not limited to capital, reinsurance, treasury, capital markets, actuarial and financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for owning and executing best-in-class, scalable financial forecasts and analysis with an emphasis on reinsurance and liquidity.

  • Provide robust financial forecasting, financial analysis and ad hoc support; synthesize complex concepts to create analysis and explanations that are clear, concise & credible
  • Harness technology to drive automation and efficiencies for flexible turnkey deliverables
  • Support the production and distribution of FP&A statutory forecasts and analysis, considering material nonpublic information (MNPI) requirements
  • Support the production and distribution of liquidity forecasts, considering material nonpublic information (MNPI) requirements
  • Collaborate with others to instill deeper understanding of FP&A team function and requirements across F&G

This position will support the overall statutory forecast and analysis and capital forecast deliveries.

  • Contribute to the production of monthly and quarterly reporting packages that include high quality, timely and accurate variance analysis, forecasts and results messaging
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities associated with financial forecasts
  • Prepare analysis for FP&A business decision support requests, including ad hoc analysis of complex financial business issues that impact the organization
  • Participate in strategic initiatives, as appropriate, to understand and forecast impacts

The position will lead other FP&A deliveries, serving as an additional liaison between other Finance teams to ensure a holistic and consistent delivery model. 

  • Partner with Financial Reporting and Reinsurance on deliverables and dependencies
  • Capital & Ratings Management team deliverables for rating agency
  • Forecast and analysis deliverables for regulators
  • Offshore Bermuda and Cayman teams on forecasts and analysis of results

Experience and Education Requirements.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial or related field
  • 5-7 years’ relevant experience
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Significant insurance industry experience highly desirable
  • Experience with forecasts, general ledgers, databases and report writing is desired
  • Experience playing a lead role in team projects or deliveries
  • Experience of improving processes and utilizing technology to improve efficiencies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of annuity and life insurance products preferred
  • Knowledge of statutory accounting practices and principles
  • Knowledge of reinsurance accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • A passion for new challenges and delivering results

  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think ahead and conduct strategic planning
