Lead Financial Analyst, FP&A- STAT Projections & Analysis

Summary

The FP&A function provides senior management with forward looking projections and analysis of F&G’s financial results and operating performance, connecting strategy to performance.  The FP&A team has a significant contribution to the successful setting of F&G financial targets and the ultimate achievement of them. They also enable management to credibly communicate with external stakeholders.  The FP&A team partners to bring together all of the work of the deeply technical teams across finance, actuarial, investments, reinsurance and the lines of business to deliver value-added business analysis and metrics in support of enterprise-wide decision making.  This team will have a comprehensive understanding of all key business performance drivers and sophisticated financial models.

The Lead Financial Analyst, FP&A – STAT Projections & Analysis role is responsible for supporting the execution of best-in-class, scalable FP&A long term projections & analysis to deliver an integrated, full service performance cycle to public company standards. This role will be pivotal to the success of FP&A through its active partnership across the finance and actuarial departments.

Organization

This position reports to the Director, FP&A – STAT Projections & Analysis.  This position will work with multiple teams throughout the company, including but not limited to finance, actuarial, investments, reinsurance and capital.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for executing best-in-class, scalable STAT financial long-term projections & analysis.

• Provide robust financial modeling, financial analysis and ad hoc support; synthesize complex concepts to create analysis & explanations that are clear, concise and credible
• Meet standards for key performance metric definitions & effective presentation collateral
• Harness technology to drive automation and efficiencies for flexible turnkey deliverables
• Support the production and distribution of FP&A STAT projections and analysis, considering material nonpublic information (MNPI) requirements
• Collaborate with others to instill deeper understanding of FP&A team function and requirements across F&G
• Calibrate models and assumptions across other corporate modeling teams, as appropriate

This position will support the STAT multiyear plan process and partner closely with the FP&A Forecasts & Analysis team.

• Lead efficient, comprehensive process for developing financial projections and budget, and manage to plan timelines
• Facilitate accumulation, development and vetting of assumptions to be used in the plan/forecast process
• Manage creation and modelling of the multi-year STAT projections and financial statements, and perform consolidated & business level analysis, including building data analytics
• Collaborate with FP&A Forecasts & Analysis team to move projections into ‘production’ for use in variance analysis, reporting, forecasting and business decision support
• Perform performance modeling and ‘what if’ scenarios
• Develop robust analytical tools that help drive review and understanding of key results
• Participate in strategic initiatives, as appropriate, to understand and forecast impacts
• Support the design, deployment and maintenance of a new planning tool solution to harness robust, multidimensional and data driven projection and analysis capabilities for FP&A team

Experience and Education Requirements.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial or related field
• M years’ experience
• CPA or MBA preferred
• Significant insurance experience highly desirable
• Knowledge of annuity and life insurance products preferred
• Knowledge of STAT accounting practices and principles
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required
• Experience with projections, general ledgers, databases and report writing is desired
