Lead Scientist

We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Scientist in STR’s Analytics division to help us develop disruptive technologies focused on signals exploitation, estimation theory, decision aids, and systems analysis. You will lead technical project teams, interact with customers, and spearhead the growth of current and new research areas. We are looking for someone to join our team onsite as this position is based primarily in the office.

Requirements:

• MS or PhD in a scientific field such as applied math, physics, electrical engineering, data science, or equivalent experience
• 10-15 years of practical experience applying technical expertise to solve complex problems
• Previous experience analyzing sensors, including one or more of the following: acoustic, radar, EO/IR, to develop mathematical models for predicting performance and future behaviors
• Previous experience applying algorithm development and/or modeling to one or more of the following areas: technical ELINT, COMINT, tracking and fusion, sense making, resource management, or systems analysis
• Perform experiment design, performance modeling and simulation runs, and associated test verification and performance analysis using standard analysis tools (e.g., data processing in Python or MATLAB)
• Proficiency in systems simulation capabilities, Monte Carlo, data structures and expertise using MATLAB, Python, C++
• Experience communicating technical foundations of models and algorithms through reports and presentations
• Experience working and collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams, including leading technical teams and mentoring less experienced scientists

• Strong fundamentals in problem solving, complexity analysis, and algorithm design
• Proven experience deploying solutions at scale into prototype and production systems
• Understanding and experience in interacting with decision-makers and customers to translate mission needs into an end-to-end analytical solution
