This role offers a hands-on leadership opportunity to guide a small team of developers in building mission-critical clinical trial software that prioritizes patient safety and study data integrity. You will balance strategic oversight with active involvement in design, coding, testing, and deployment, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery. Collaborating with global teams, you will mentor developers, coordinate development tasks, and act as the primary technical point of contact. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a remote-first environment, enjoys technical challenges, and wants to make a meaningful impact in clinical research. East Coast U.S. candidates are preferred due to collaboration across time zones.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain clinical trial software with a focus on patient safety and data integrity
  • Review and assess product requirements, ensuring feasibility and completeness
  • Create and maintain technical design and implementation documentation
  • Write, test, and deploy high-quality backend code, addressing defects and providing unit test coverage
  • Manage and mentor a small team of developers, coordinating tasks and ensuring timely delivery of work
  • Serve as the primary contact for development requests and questions, facilitating communication across teams
  • Oversee software deployments across environments and assist support teams in resolving production issues
  • Provide technical guidance, task estimates, and ongoing mentorship to ensure consistent team performance

  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
    • 10+ years of professional software development experience
    • 3+ years of experience in technical leadership or team management
    • Strong expertise in C#/.NET and SQL, with deep understanding of backend development principles
    • Solid grasp of programming fundamentals and ability to design complex software modules
    • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
    • Strong oral and written communication skills for mentoring and cross-team collaboration
    • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and guidance to a development team
